Last night was a "Do or Die" situation for the Huskies. We're were tied 1-1 in the series with WIHO. We had to win in order to move on to the semi-finals. It was a good, solid game and my team played together really well. Huge improvement over last week. I unfortunately pulled a muscle during warm-ups which limited my movements. I couldn't follow all of Grant's suggestions from last week but I did my best to hang in there. By third period, I had a bit more range of motion.
We were winning 1-0 after first period and 2-0 after second. Then WIHO player Nicolo Hayat skated around the net and tried to score. I stopped the first shot which rebounded back towards the boards near where the Zamboni parks. He managed to get the puck again, skate towards the front of the net and shoot the puck into the far side. 20 seconds later he scored again, after WIHO won the face off centre ice. Third period ended 2-2. There was then an 8 minute period of overtime which would be followed by a shoot out. Fortunately, Alain Foster scored his second goal of the night and the Huskies won 3-2. Next week, we take on the Wendigos which will be challenging.
