Can't remember if I blogged about this already, but I've picked up a second hockey team. In addition to playing Division 2 on Dragonback on Wednesdays, I'm now also part the the Monday night Division 3 Huskies team. (Division 3 is a lot slower than Division 2 but the guys are SO nice! The Huskies haven't had a goalie this season and have been relying on LPP's. But with the upcoming playoffs, they need a goalie on their roster---enter me.)
After playing with the Huskies last Monday (which we lost), I had an incredible game with Dragonback on Wednesday. We played PPG, the number one team in our division. (Have I mentioned that Dragonback is the basement of the division? We will be playing PPG in the first round of the playoffs.) Our team really pulled together and played like we haven't played all season. We had a lot of pressure in the offensive zone but couldn't put the puck in the net. It was a tight game all three periods---we were 0-2 with less than 3 minutes to go. PPG got a penalty and with the power play, I came out of the game early. Unfortunately PPG scored an empty netter which ended our quest for a comeback. Fantastic, fun game...I had a blast.
PPG 3 – DragonBack 0
Ø PPG – Tom Jessop 1G, Thomas Ng 1G, Ryan Harper 1G
Ø DragonBack – No Goals
Ø Saves – Eric Wai 14 & Kirsten Rendell 26

This way also the late game which supposedly begins at 11:00 pm. We were still on the ice after midnight. The next morning, I was dragging---very tired & sore. I ended up having coffee with a friend and then we went to the gym together. While showering, I mentioned that I should go see Ben at the Mandarin for a Shanghainese pedicure. She replied that she knew a place where you could get one for a lot less money but no nail polish is involved. We ended up going to Gao's Foot Massage in Central and had foot massages. Bliss! A seated back massage was included at the beginning. Then a fantastically hot pad is draped on your back while your feet are massaged. Incredible! And a bargain--50 minutes for HK$ 188.
This week the Huskies won on Monday night but Dragonback did not fare so well. We lost 2-5 against the Canucks. I wasn't having quite as much fun during this one---especially with Norm's last goal (#5). I should have skated out and cleared the puck before he got there. Next time.
Canucks 5 – DragonBack 2
Ø Canucks – Norm Chin 3G, Art Tam LPP 1G, Vincent Chow 1G
Ø DragonBack – Nick Moorcroft 1G, Ryan Grimes 1G
Ø Saves – Keith Fong 22 & Kirsten Rendell 19
The 3 Stars of the Game – 1) Norm Chin 3G 1A, 2) Nick Moorcroft 1G 1A, 3) Vincent Chow 1G
Thursday morning is definitely a tough one for me. I delayed going to the gym but eventually made it. Then I decided "Gao's...must go back to Gao's". So I did. A foot massage followed by a Shanghainese pedicure. The pedicure wasn't the same as the one at the Mandarin...I quite liked the fact that my feet were dry as the man cut away all of the dry skin. Great value---three pedicures at Gao's cost less than one at the Mandarin. If I feel the need for varnish (and don't want to do it myself), I'll probably go over to The Feel Good Factor.
Anyway, back to my main point (which I haven't addressed yet). This morning I had terrible tendinitis in my right wrist...didn't have full range of motion AND it was very painful. I took some Advil which dulled the pain a bit. I had a Eureka! moment later in the day when I realized that all of my pain was gone---a happy by-product of the reflexology! I never mentioned it to the lady who did the massage and nearly 12 hours later, my wrist is still "right as rain". Amazing!
