We've been working (semi) seriously on potty training for the last two days. At least seriously in the morning while we're home. James has come a long way. When we first arrived back this summer, he wouldn't even sit on the potty. I had to bribe him with fruit snacks to get him to sit (fully clothed) on the potty. Claire's been really helpful...she'll model the correct behavior as well as cheer James on.
Heather suggested that I buy some cars and keep them where James could see them but not touch them. Once he actually peed i the potty, he could pick one to keep. (This method worked well for her older son, Connor.) Well, we went to the Dollar Store yesterday and picked out two monster trucks and one tractor trailer truck. James was desperate to play with these but only peed on the floor yesterday evening. This morning, however, was a different story. He sat on his train potty for a long time and then wanted to go sit on the toilet. We went Dora's "Little Star" book for what seems to be the 47th time. At the end, James peed! Yea for James! And he picked the tractor-trailer truck as his reward.
